Yesterdays Engines

This goes back to 2011 when I was living in the Nambucca Valley.

YESTERDAYS ENGINES

When the Rusty Iron Rally begins

The folks of Macksville change gears

To welcome machinery

with a few ginger beers

Yesterdays engines rev

To satisfy a Diesel Lair

It happens only once a year

and they put fireworks in the air

Pistons, rings and bearings grind

With rhythm that turns on Fred

A tap washes his hands

To impress a woman dressed in red

Yesterdays engines rev

And blow smoke everywhere

Occupational Safety blokes

Loosing all their hair

Overalls stained in oil and grease

Boots stink of cows done

Commentator hogs the P.A.

Having truck loads of fun

Yesterdays engines rev

Rubber smells of wear

Love the little old tractor

That splashes mud on the Mayor
