Promise to Scare

I wrote this a few weeks ago before Ignatius Jones died. I was inspired by an online musical friend that had not heard of Jimmy and the Boys.

PROMISE TO SCARE

I took Judy back to nineteen seventy nine

In my time machine to see a gig

Jimmy and the Boys were about to shock

With Ignatius Jones taming a pig

The club was serving grog

Cops were hanging around

Getting paid well

Nothing illegal was found

There was blood everywhere

Joylene Thornbird in my hair

She thought I was a lair

To make me swear

Promise to scare!

Judy seemed very impressed with me

When I offered to buy her a Milkshake

So I found a café that was opened at midnight

It was across from the nearby lake

Then the road crew arrived

They were looking for a bream

It was a hot summer night

So I told them to swim

There was blood everywhere

Joylene Thornbird in my hair

She thought I was a lair

To make me swear

Promise to scare!

Judy had enough and wanted to go back

To the future where she understood

She bought a record and took a photo

To show he friends in her neighbourhood

These friendly Hippies and some Punks

Didn’t want us to go

They thought we were cool

All we could say was. ”Hasta Luego”
